What we did
Business Objective
Maintain good levels of IT security within the court setting, increase speed and efficiency of court proceedings.
Technical Objective
Desktop and network access infrastructure replacement, providing increased speed of access (performance) and supported devices and operating systems.
Project
Desktop Refresh
During out of hours, desktop devices were replaced in all courtrooms within a local court building. Access switches and cabling infrastructure also upgraded and replaced to support new devices and capable of delivering greater speeds of network access.
Consideration was taken over the physical security of devices being replaced; with a full audit of all physical devices and enclosed hard disk and storage devices with a full check-in/check-out procedure being followed.
Due to the planning involved, with time planned for contingency and adequate testing time, the entire change was completed in less than 60% of the time allocated, with the court back online and ready for operation with no issues reported.

Outcome
Users within the court setting experienced much-improved performance, bringing efficiency to the court proceeding. The replacement devices were able to offer a greater level of security with device-specific and operating systems upgrades.
